Lawlor makes NCAA meet for second time after taking 12th at regionals

GORHAM, Maine -- Colby College's Cait Lawlor is headed to the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships for the second time after qualifying for the meet.

Six teams and seven individuals from the NESCAC will compete at the meet on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the North Farm Facility in Elsah, Ill. (Principia College host). The women's race will start at 1:15 p.m. (EST)
Lawlor finished 91st out of 280 finishers at last year's national meet in Louisville, Ky. Runners had to battle strong winds, a wet course, and cool weather that day.

Lawlor earned All-New England honors after placing 12th out of 393 finishers at the NCAA Division III New England Region Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at University of Southern Maine.

Lawlor (pictured right) helped the Mules finish in seventh place overall out of 56 teams.
Lawlor, a senior, had a time of 21 minutes, 29.6 seconds over the 6-kilometer course (3.73 miles). She also earned All-New England honors last year in taking 17th place at the regional meet.
Colby junior Hannah Springhorn took 42nd place in 22:23.9 and first-year Sophia Gorman had a top-50 finish by placing 47th with a 22:26.9. Gorman was ninth among first-year runners.
Helen Chavey took 70th place for the Mules in 22:53.9, while first-year Whitney White was 74th in 23:01.9. Taylor Kennedy placed 125th for the Mules in 23:42.6, while first-year Hannah Southwick took 147th with a 23:55.2.
