WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby's competition season has not yet begun, but the Mules have still been busy, getting themselves and the community ready for game day with Meet the Mules events.
Last Wednesday, the field hockey team hosted Meet the Mules, bringing families to the Bill Alfond Field and running kids through drills and games before signing autographs and talking to the up-and-coming players. Football held their Meet the Mules event on Saturday on Seaverns Field at the Harold Alfond Stadium.
At both events, local kids had chances to both play with this year's teams and learn about the preparation, motivation, and enjoyment that is part of the college-athlete experience. In addition, coaches spoke about the mentality and culture of their teams, as well as the work required for their athletes to have an opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
Both teams are nearing competition. The field hockey team plays their first game at home against Connecticut College on Saturday, September 7th at 12:00 PM. Football's season starts away at Wesleyan on September 14th, at 1:00PM.
