In her wide-ranging career in collegiate athletics, Schuman has proven her ability to succeed in diverse environments. She most recently served as the senior associate athletic director for strategic initiatives and talent management at the University of Delaware. She also provided coaches and staff members with leadership practices designed for excellence in performance improvement. While also managing high-level departmental projects, Schuman recruited and hired more than 30 staff members.

Before her time at Delaware, Schuman was the division head for athletics and wellness at The Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. There, she helped lead the transition to a new $63 million athletics center and developed the school’s first sports performance program, which included strength and conditioning, mental health, and leadership development.

Schuman also has worked at Catholic University of America, the University of Tennessee, and Florida Atlantic University. She was associate athletic director at Catholic, with oversight of several programs that competed for Landmark Conference championships. While at Tennessee, Schuman was director of the CHAMPS/Life Skills program and worked directly with the 2008 Lady Volunteers National Championship winning women’s basketball program. She also served as an assistant director and academic counselor during her time at Florida Atlantic.

Schuman has been a consultant since 2008 for the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. She works nationally on topics of gender violence prevention, leadership, and equity and diversity with college student athletes and organizations such as the NBA, Major League Baseball, and NASCAR.

Schuman earned her master's degree in exercise and sport sciences (sports administration concentration) from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University. She is currently in a doctorate program at Vanderbilt.
