Eleven Colby athletes were named to the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship team for the 2019 spring season.
Matt Mitchell, a senior out of Wayzata, Minn., represents Colby for baseball. Mitchell was also named to the All-NESCAC Second Team after a prolific season at the plate. Wiley Holton, a senior from Dedham, Mass., was named to the softball team. Holton was a reliable pitcher and outfielder for the Mules, throwing a team high 104.2 innings this season.
Carlos Beason, a senior from Chagoanas, Trinidad & Tobago, was named to the men’s lacrosse team and Bridget Horwood was named to the women’s lacrosse team. Beason played midfield for the Mules, tallying two goals and four assists on the season, while Horwood, a captain, totaled 25 points from attack this past season, with 12 goals and 13 assists.
Sumukh Pathi and Callie Nesbitt were named to the team from men’s and women’s tennis, respectively. Pathi, a sophomore from Westborough, Mass., played first doubles and second singles this season for the Mules. Nesbitt, a sophomore out of Richmond, Va., showed her versatility this season, playing both second and third doubles and fourth singles.
Seniors Nick Boutin and Rachel Leonard made the team for men’s and women’s track and field. Boutin, who is from Old Town, Maine, ran the 4x100 and 4x400 m relays, as well as the 100, 200, and 1600 SMR this season for outdoor track. Leonard, who is from Exeter, N.H., holds the teams top times in the 200 m, 400 m, and 800 m this season and is part of the 4x100 and 4x400 m relay team. She also recieved this year's Valavanis Award at Colby.
Sam Subbukumar, a senior out of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Lillie Kontor, a sophomore from Annapolis, Md., were named to the team for men’s and women’s crew, respectively. Subbukumar rowed in the 7th seat of the second varsity eight this season, while Kontor was a coxswain for the women's first varsity eight.
Jack Griffith, a sophomore from Simsbury, Conn., was named from the golf team. Griffith played in the #1 position for golf this season.
