Schoepke 12th, Derwin 17th for alpine ski teams in giant slalom

STOWE, Vt. -- Sandy Schoepke placed 12th for the Colby College women's alpine ski team and Colbey Derwin also had a top-20 giant slalom finish by placing 17th for the men at the University of Vermont Carnival on Mount Mansfield.
Schoepke (pictured) was one of four Colby women's alpine skiers to make the top 30. She had times of 1:05.70 and 1:07.54 for a two-run total time of 2:13.24.
Lily Hogan was 21st for the Colby women in 2:15.32 on runs of 1:08.17 and 1:07.15. Rosie Hust was 26th in 2:16.18 (1:07.73, 1:08.45) and Julia Chahine finished 29th in 2:17.29 (1;08.12, 1:09.17).  
The Colby women placed sixth overall, but just one point out of fifth place.
Derwin had his best finish of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season by having runs of 1:04.34 and 1:04.04 for a two-run total time of 2:08.38. Paul Ferri was 39th for the Mules in 2:11.65 (1:05.65, 1:06.00).
