Schoepke, Hogan lead women's alpine ski team at Middlebury Carnival

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Sandy Schoepke had a fourth top-10 finish of the season in the slalom for the Colby College women's alpine ski team at the Middlebury Carnival on Friday.

Schoepke placed fourth overall with runs of 53.92 and 51.59 for a two-run total time of 1:45.51. She was second after the first run, only trailing eventual winner Alexa Dlouhy (53.36) of Dartmouth.
Schoepke had her best slalom finish of the season after taking fifth in the Dartmouth Carnival last week, sixth at the University of Vermont Carnival, and 10th at the season-opening St. Lawrence Carnival.
Lily Hogan had the sixth-best second run of the day at 50.90 to finish with a total time of 1:47.18 in taking 15th place. Tess Baldwin (pictured) was 29th for the Mules in 1:50.22. Rosie Hust was tied for fourth place after her first run of 54.75, but had a DNF on her second trip. 
The Colby women placed fourth overall with 81 points. 
Paul Ferri led the Colby men by finishing 24th in runs of 50.09 and 50.90 for a total clocking of 1:40.99. Colbey Derwin took 30th for the Mules with a 1:41.66 (50.25, 51.41). 
Matt Wilson was 18th (49.91) after the first run, but did not finish his second run.
