BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Cam Clouse scored on a penalty kick 5:10 into the game and Colby College's defense did the rest in a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer win over University of New England on Wednesday night.
* The Nor'easters (1-7 overall) were called for a tripping foul deep in the penalty area. Clouse (pictured) ripped a shot into the lower left corner on the penalty kick. UNE goalkeeper Will Shearon guessed the right way on his dive, but Clouse's shot had way too much pace.
* The Mules nearly added to the lead in the second half, but had two shots go off the crossbar. Colby had 10 of its 18 shots go on goal, while the Nor'easters had only one shot on goal among 10 total shots.
* Avery Gibson played the first half for the Mules in goal, while Dan Carlson worked the final 45 minutes. Neither goalie was credited with a save.
Next on the schedule
* The Mules (2-2-1 overall) face Trinity College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on the Colby Soccer Field. The Mules won at Trinity last year.
