Men's soccer fights hard for 0-0 road game tie with Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Dan Carlson (pictured) made five saves, including a diving stop in the second overtime period, to help Colby College keep Williams College off the scoreboard in a 0-0 tie in NESCAC men's soccer Saturday.
The Mules (1-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 NESCAC) have allowed just three goals in four games and only one goal in regulation play. Colby lost tough 1-0 overtime games to third-ranked Tufts University and Gordon College.
While Tufts is ranked first in the New England Region, the Ephs (1-0-1, 1-0-1) came into the contest ranked seventh. Williams opened the season with a 5-0 home win over Trinity College.
By the numbers
* The Mules had a 7-3 shot advantage in the opening half, but the Ephs came back and had a 7-1 margin in the second half. Williams had a 6-3 edge in shots in overtime.
* The two teams combined to put just eight shots on goal in 110 minutes of play. Wyett MacDonald had two shots on goal and Ethan Fabricant had one for the Mules. 
* Both teams finished with six corner kicks, with Colby holding a 4-0 edge after the first half.
