Waterville, Maine - Early in the 2019 season it seemed as if every game for the Colby Men's Soccer team was played in the rain, and the Mules started the season at 4-1. After weeks of more pleasant weather, the rain returned in force and the Mules found familiarity and another win, topping Husson University 2-0.
Colby outpaced Husson early. In fact, the Mule defense kept the Eagles from putting a single shot on net in the entire first half. First year defender Kevin Traore (photo) started the scoring just before the seven minute mark off an assist by sophomore Cam Walker. Walker netted his own nearly 13 minutes later, this time off an assist from Nicholas Lemire. the goals marked the first of the season from both Traore and Walker.
Colby continued the pressure in the second half, but despite leading on shots on goal (10-2) and corner kicks (4-1), Eagle goal keeper Kyle Townsend kept the Husson goal clean for the rest of the game. Colby is now 5-4 on the season (2-0 on the turf Bill Alfond Field) while Husson falls to 2-8.
The Mules are back in action this Saturday as they host Williams College at 2:00 PM in front of a Homecoming crowd.
