Men's squash off to good start at national tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The 26th-ranked Colby College men's squash team got off to a fine start at the College Squash Association National Tournament with a 9-0 victory over 31st-ranked Bucknell on Friday.
The Mules are playing in the Conroy Division (D) for teams ranked 25 to 32.
Colby won the first six positions by straight set scores, including an 11-5, 11-6, 11-8 win for Elliot Gross at the first position. 
Alex Spafford was a winner at the second spot and Chase Holding had a good battle (12-10, 11-9, 11-7) at three. Alex Kurtin, Jason Brodo, and Ryan Santoro also had straight set wins.
Tyler Burt (pictured) was one of two Colby players to go four sets in his 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-7 victory at the seventh spot. Duda Voldman also won in four sets after losing the opening set at the ninth position.
Charlie Beauregard had the easiest match of the night at eight with an 11-2, 11-4, 11-4 victory.
The Mules will take on 27th-ranked Hobart College at 6 p.m. Saturday at Yale University.
