Relay team, Paluso have best finishes for men's swimming

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Colby College’s Joe Paluso finished in a tie for seventh place in the 1,000-yard freestyle and helped the 800 freestyle relay team to an eighth at the NESCAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Williams College on Saturday.

Paluso tied with fellow first-year Jaleel Watler of Connecticut College in a time of 9:43.56. He also swam the opening leg and teamed up with Carter Garfield, Hugh Jacobsen, and John Blackburn to take eighth in the 800 freestyle relay in 7:03.77.
Colby’s 200 medley relay team of Jacobsen, Kyle Wong, Gavin Blake, and Jacob Tower placed 11th in 1:38.09.
Blake finished in 20th place in the 100 butterfly (53.02) and Garfield took 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (59.57, 59.33 prelim).
Colby has 279 total points and sits in 11th place heading into Sunday’s final day of competition.
