BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Travers Losert won both diving events and first-year Darrel Choi was a winner in two butterfly events for the Colby College men's swimming and diving team at the Maine State Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The Mules finished in second place ahead of both Bowdoin College and University of Maine in the seven team meet.
Losert won the 1-meter board with a score of 225.75 and had 232.30 in taking 3-meter board honors. Meanwhile,Choi took the 100 butterfly (53.10) and the 200 fly (1:57.94).
John Connors, another first-year, won the state title in the 200 freestyle (1:44.77). He also had seconds in the 50 freestyle (21.81) and 100 freestyle (47.75).
Max Babej took runner-up finishes in the 50 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke (2:10.14). Connors, Jake Gray, Carter Garfield, and Xander Geiersbach. were second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.54).
Ryan Bedell had thirds in the 500 freestyle (4:46.25), 400 IM in 4:17.22, and 1,650 freestyle (16:51.04. Geiersbach had the same finish in the 50 backstroke (25.26), 100 backstroke (54.55), and 200 backstroke (1:57.09). Garfield also had a third in the 100 IM (55.05). The team of Geiersbach, Babej, Choi, and Connors took third in the 200 medley relay in 1:38.38.
