Bedell named NESCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Ryan Bedell (Rye Brook, N.Y.), who set a school record and two pool records in two Mule victories, was honored Monday as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Bedell broke the school record and pool record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4 minutes, 12.73 seconds in Colby's victory over Wesleyan University on Saturday.
In Sunday's dual meet against Trinity, Bedell broke the pool record in winning the 500 freestyle in 4:44.68.
Bedell, who is just a sophomore, has 11 individual wins this season and 24 for his career. He has five wins in the 500 freestyle, four wins in the 1,000 freestyle, and two in the 400 individual medley.
Bedell has been instrumental in helping Colby to a 6-1 overall dual meet record. The Mules have won six meets in a row heading into Saturday's noon competition against Bowdoin College. The winner of the meet is the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) title champion.
