Men's swimming and diving earns victory over Hamilton

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Xander Geiersbach, Ryan Bedell, and Henry Toulmin all won two events for the Colby College men's swimming and diving team in a 149-111 win over Hamilton College on Sunday at Trinity College.

Geiersbach took the 100 backstroke (55.26) and 200 backstroke (2:00.82), Bedell captured the 500 freestyle (4:53.66)  and 400 individual medley (4:19.64), and Toulmin took the 1-meter (154.95) and 3-meter (122.17) diving events.
Jacob Gray won the 50 freestyle (22.45) and was part of both relay wins for the Mules (2-1 overall). Gray swam the anchor leg and teamed with Geiersbach, Max Babej (pictured), and Matt Jones for a win in the 200 medley relay (1:39.21). Gray swam first in helping Jacob Tower, John Connors, and Carter Garfield win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.92.
The Mules also received victories from Andrew Healy in the 1000 freestyle (10:20.87), Connors in the 200 freestyle (1:46.07), Darrel Choi with a 1:59.94 in the 200 butterfly, and Babej in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.01).
Colby had second-place finishes from Choi in the 100 butterfly (54.02) and 400 individual medley (4:31.29), Charlie Allen in both diving events, Matt Maring in the 1,000 freestyle (10:49.20), Bedell in the 200 freestyle (1:48.01), Babej with a 1:01.20 in the 100 breaststroke, Dylan Walsh in the 200 butterfly (2:04.58), Garfield in the 50 freestyle (23.02), Connors in the 100 freestyle (49.10), Healy in the 500 freestyle (5:04.41), and Zachary Bergman with a 2:20.72 in the 200 breaststroke.
The Mules swim at Middlebury College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
