No. 37 men's tennis gives tough battle to No. 14 Tufts in setback

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- The 37th-ranked Colby College men's tennis team received singles win from Carl Reid and Vlad Murad in a tight 6-3 loss to 14th-ranked Tufts University on Wednesday.

Shaw Speeer and Cam Hillier combined for an 8-5 win at third doubles to get Colby an early point. Reid and Murad lost a tough 9-7 match at the first doubles spot.

In singles play, Reid and Murad both won after winning the first set and losing the second. Reid won 6-3 in the third set and Murad coasted to a 6-2 victory.

Colby (5-3 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) plays at Occidental on Thursday at 8 p.m. (EST).
