Murad falls in NCAA opener

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Colby College's Vlad Murad lost a tough 7-6, 6-3 battle with University of Chicago's Erik Kerrigan in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Individual Men's Tennis Championships on Thursday.

Murad, a senior, closes out his career with a 94-45 record (44-22 singles, 50-23 doubles). He finished with a 17-5 singles record and a 17-6 doubles mark for the 2016-17 season.
 

Kerrigan moves on to a round of 16 match with Emory University's Jonathan Jemison, who took a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win over seventh-seeded Kai Yuen Leung of Skidmore College.
