Men's tennis earns 5-4 victory over Pacific in improving to 6-1

AUSTIN, Texas -- Scott Altmeyer and Sumukh Pathi both won in straight sets at the first two singles spots for the Colby College men's tennis team in a 5-4 victory over Pacific University (Ore.) on Friday in Texas.

Colby head coach Jason Cohen won his 100th career match for men's tennis. 
Altmeyer (pictured) was down 1-5 in the second set before coming back for a 7-6 victory at first singles. Pathi cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles to push the Mules to the edge.
Jeremy Mendoza clinched the match by fighting back for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory at sixth singles putting the score at 5-2 in Colby's favor. 
Colby (6-1 overall) helped its own cause by winning two of the three doubles matches. Altmeyer and Pathi were 9-7 winners at the first spot, while Shaw Speer and Garrett Reiter took the third doubles match by an 8-3 score.
The Mules are back on the court tomorrow at noon vs #30 UT-Tyler to finish out their spring break trip in Texas.
