The Colby men's outdoor track and field team competed at two different locations last weekend. The distance team competed at Connecticut College in the Silfin Invitational while the sprinters and field team headed to Southern New Hampshire University for the Pennman Relays.
Six distance runners set PRs in the 5000 meter run. Eli Decker ran a 15:02.88 to place 14th and Reeve Maddux came in right behind him in 15th with a time of 15:04.94. Ewan Frick and Max Lessans, both first years, finished next to each other as well in 36th and 37th, respectively, with times of 15:34.40 and 15:35.89. Benjamin Mellor and Gabe Kline also earned PRs together in 51st and 52nd, running times of 15:55.02 and 15:57.56.
At SHSU, Tanner Burton and Sage Bailin led the Mules to several top finishes. Bailin won the 400 m hurdles in a time of 54:04, with Burton behind him in 10th in 1:01.58 and Aidan Sweeny one spot back in 11th with a time of 1:01.80. Burton was also 3rd in the 110 M Hurdles final, clocking a time of 15:32 with Bailin right behind in 4th at 15:46.
Burton and Bailin teamed up with Ben Smith and Nick Boutin to come in 2nd as a team in the 4x100 m relay, and Smith, Boutin, Ethan Springhorn, and Sweeny dashed their way to 3rd in the 1600 Sprint Medley.
The Mules compete in two events next weekend. Some athletes will travel to Georgia Tech for the Georgia Tech Invitational while the rest head to Bowdoin College for the Maine State Meet.
