Bailin breaks school record in 500 meters for men's indoor track

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sage Bailin, the NESCAC champion in the men's outdoor 400-meter hurdles, broke the school record in the 500 dash for the Colby College men's indoor track and field team Saturday at Boston University's Terrier Classic.

Bailin finished with a time of 1 minute, 4.49 seconds to break the old record or 1:04.58 set by Brian Sommers in 2016. Bailin finished third overall behind a professional unattached runner and an athlete from Dartmouth College. Bailin was just .02 behind the Dartmouth runner.
 
Ben Smith placed 30th in the 500 meters at 1:08.05, Aidan Sweeny took 32nd with a 1:08.37, Liam McDonough was 41st at 1:10.90, and Will Blasdell finished 44th in 1:11.91.
 
Nick Boutin placed 22nd in the 60 meter invitational race with a 7.49 and was 87th in the 200 dash (23.10). Tanner Burton was 99th in the 200 at 23.35.
 
Nick Peterson placed 45th in the 1,000 meters (2:41.04) and 115th in the 800 (2:03.30). JT Munz finished in 108th in the 800 meters (2:02.43).
