After six EISA wins, Fields ready for NCAA meet in Colorado

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colby College's Zane Fields dominated the Nordic ski season in the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association and now has a chance to test his skills against the best in the country at the NCAA Division I Skiing Championships.

The Nordic ski competition will take place on Thursday and Saturday at Howelsen Hill. Fields competes in the men's 10-kilometer classical on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. (EST). He races in the 20K freestyle mass start on Saturday at 11 a.m. (EST). The NCAA will broadcast both races at liveschedule
"Zane has had an incredible season to be skiing so consistently at the top," Colby head coach Tracey Cote said. "Skiing at altitude will be a big challenge for him and all the skiers from the east, but he's looking forward to racing hard against the best collegiate skiers in the country."
Fields, a junior, is making his third straight appearance at the NCAA meet. His best finish in four races was 13th in the 20K freestyle mass start at last year's event hosted by University of New Hampshire. The top 10 finishers earn All-American honors.
Fields has had a dream season thus far, winning both races at the Eastern Championships. Those were two of his six total victories in earning the top ranking in the EISA.
