WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College All-American Zane Fields (Woodstock, Vt.), who won his first race of the season last Friday, was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Male Nordic Skier of the Week on Thursday.

Fields, who has seven EISA victories in the past two years, finished 1 minute, 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 15-kilometer freestyle event. He had a time of 43:32.5.

Heading to his fourth NCAA Division I Skiing Championships in March, Fields has finished in the top 10 of six of the eight events. He was the top-ranked EISA male skier last year.

Fields and the Mules will compete Friday and Saturday at the Middlebury Carnival at Rikert Nordic Center. The men race in the 15K classic mass start Friday and the 10K skate (individual start) Saturday.
