Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Basketball team returned to Wadsworth Gymnasium for the first time season and treated the home crowd to a victory over MIT 68-42.
The Mules took a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter but stretched the lead to 32-18 by the half, aided by three pointers from Carly Christofori (photo inset), Keagan Dunbar, and Paige Russell (headline photo). The third quarter was more of the same as Colby stretched its lead to 55-29 with long range buckets from Dunbar, Ainsley Burns, and Alisha Aube.
Dunbar was the top scorer for the Mules, finishing with 15 points and five assists. Aube just missed a double-double, scoring 14 with eight rebounds.
"I am extremely excited about this group and the strides we've made with each game," said head coach Chenel Harris-Smith. "I'm proud of the effort our ladies put forth for 40 minutes. Keagan and Alisha broght tremendous energy today, and led our team to our first home win against a talented MIT team."
The Mules are 2-2 on the season and next play on Tuesday when they host crosstown rival Thomas College. Tip off is slated for 6:00pm.
