Katie McLaughlin ’17 (Glenburn, Maine), a two-sport athlete honored for her athletics leadership during her time at Colby, will be an assistant coach for her second year after coaching last season under the College’s Papadellis Family Internship.
McLaughlin works under women's hockey head coach Holley Tyng, for whom she played during her senior season.
McLaughlin, a forward, finished her hockey career with 27 goals and 34 assists for 61 career points. She led the Mules in scoring last year and was second in points her first three seasons. As a first-year, she tied for second in scoring with senior Annie Papadellis '14.
McLaughlin, who had 102 hits and played shortstop and third base during her softball career, earned the Marjorie D. Bither Award at the 29th Annual Senior Awards Ceremony in May 2017. The honor is for academic ability, athletic ability, and leadership in athletics and on campus.
McLaughlin was a two-year captain for women's hockey and was a rare three-time New England Small College Athletic Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team award winner. McLaughlin also earned NESCAC All-Academic Team honors four times.
