Women's soccer again earns Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award

WATERVILLE, Maine -- For the second straight year, the Colby College women earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award in the platinum category for not having a red or yellow card by a player or coach for the entire season.

The Mules, under head coach Kristin Shaw, were one of just seven women's or men's soccer teams to be in the platinum category. The seven teams will be formally acknowledged at the College Coaches Awards Reception on January 10 at the Chicago Marriott in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
Maine was well represented in the platinum category with both Bowdoin College and University of Maine joining Colby as honorees. Cairn University, Grinnell College, Kalamazoo College, and University of Mount Union were the other schools in the platinum category.
The Mules were one of 10 teams honored in the platinum category last year. Colby and Bowdoin are the only two teams to earn the honor two years in a row.
