No. 40 women's tennis falls to 14th-ranked Polar Bears

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Callie Nesbitt dropped a tough 7-6, 7-6 match at third singles in the 40th-ranked Mules' 9-0 setback to 14th-ranked Bowdoin College on Wednesday.

Bowdoin Rachel Bercovitch won two tie-breakers in the hard-fought match. Nesbitt (pictured) was down 4-1 in the second set, but battled back to force the second set tie-breaker. Nesbitt is having a fine first season, with a 6-4 record while playing second and third singles.
Tess Trinka, ranked 16th in the country in singles, won at the first spot while giving up just two games. Tasha Christ also gave up only two games in winning the second singles match.
Trinka and Izzy Essi won 8-1 at first doubles for Bowdoin (8-9 overall, 3-2 NESCAC).
The Mules (8-5, 2-4 NESCAC) will play host to second-ranked Williams College on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Polar Bears also host Williams on Saturday at 2 p.m.
