Women's tennis has seven players earn academic honors

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's tennis team had seven players make the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete Team on Tuesday.

The Colby women's squad earned the ITA All-Academic Team honor for having a combined grade point average of at least 3.20.
Emily Dyckman (Princeton, N.J.), Molly Higgins (Burlington, Vt.), Hania Lenderking (Washington, D.C.), Aleks Piibe (El Segundo, Calif.), Jamie Pine (Providence, R.I.), Gabriela Venditti (Mercer Island, Wash.), and Lydia Venditti (Mercer Island, Wash.) were honored for Colby.
The players needed at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average for the past academic year.
Dyckman, a rising senior, had a 2-1 singles record and went 1-1 in doubles play last season.
Higgins, a sophomore this fall, won both of her singles matches and went 1-0 in doubles play in her first season with Colby.
Lenderking, a junior for the upcoming season, won her lone singles match and teamed with Higgins for a doubles victory.
Piibe went 4-2 in singles play, including a 3-0 record at the fifth spot, and had a 3-1 record with Pine in doubles. Piibe, Pine, and the Venditti sisters are all seniors this fall.
Pine went 2-2 in singles play and joined forces with three players to go 8-6 in doubles. She was 5-4 in doubles with Maddie Lupone.
Gabriela Venditti won six singles matches while playing the first, second, and third spots. She also had five doubles victories with two partners.
Lydia Venditti won four matches while once again playing first singles for the Mules. She also had five doubles victories.
