Women's tennis program has 21st-ranked recruiting class

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Colby College women’s tennis team and head coach Jason Cohen head into the 2018-19 season with the 21st ranked recruiting class for Division III women's tennis.

The Mules earned the ranking from and it is the first time the team has been ranked in the Top 25 for as long as has been doing rankings.

“It is great for this class to be recognized and we are very excited for them to join us here at Colby," Cohen said. "For as long as has existed, Colby has never had a 3-star recruit and this year we have two of them with Carly Levitz and Olivia Scordo."

Levitz is from Chappaqua, N.Y., while Scorda comes to Colby from Glen Head, N.Y. Katharine Dougherty (Winchester, Mass.) and Gabriella Gabel (Fairfield, Conn.) are 2-star recruits. Emilia Callery (Darien, Conn.) and Lindsey Hernandez (Chester, N.J.) are other top recruits.

"The strength in this class is its depth, as all six players will be able to compete for spots in the line-up and contribute," Cohen said. "It is very exciting to build on our excellent results from this past season and the future is very bright with this group."

The Mules finished 9-7 overall, 38th in the ITA National Rankings last year, and lost just one senior to graduation.
