Garrett breaks own school record for second time this season

NORTON, Mass. -- Michaela Garrett broke her own school record in the weight throw and Jenna Athanasopoulos (pictured) won the pentathlon for the Colby College women's indoor track and field team at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday.

Garrett broke her own record for the second time this season. She had a winning throw of 55-feet, 10.5-inches to surpass her old mark of 55-3.5. Victoria Marion finished in fourth place for Colby with a throw of 48-0.75.

Athanasopoulos finished with 3,173 points in the pentathlon to win by more than 250 points. Colby first-year Emma O'Hara placed fourth with 2,686 points.

Sophie Stokes-Cerkvenik had a good meet, placing second in the 60 dash (8.09) and third in the 60 hurdles (9.23). Michaela Athanasopoulos took fourth place in the 60 dash (8.17).

Colby's other victory came from Rachel Leonard, Taylor Depalo, Stokes-Cerkvenik, and Michaela Athanasopoulos with a winning time of 3:59.22 in the 1,600 relay.

Isa Berzansky took second place in the high jump (5-3.75) and was fourth in the triple jump (34-11). Maggie Giles also had a second with her time of 2:23.58 in the 800 meters.

The Mules received thirds from Michaela Athanasopoulos in the 200 dash (26.81) and Marion in the shot put (35-4.5).

Colby also received fourth-place finishes from Depalo in the 200 dash (27.03), Liz Holland in the 3,000 meters (11:20.96), and Julia Rembetsy-Brown in the long jump (16-5).
