CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Colby College's Michaela Garrett is a New England Division III champion after breaking her own school record in the 20-pound weight throw for the fourth time this indoor track and field season Saturday.
Garrett had a throw of 59 feet, 8.5 inches to win the title at the New England Division III Championships at MIT. Garrett's old record was 57-5. The second place finisher Saturday threw 56-0. She also finished in 20th place in the shot put (35-2).
Isa Berzansky placed seventh in the high jump (5-3.25), while Lydia Fanning (pictured) was eighth in the 800 meters (2:22.55). Rebecca Berube placed 14th in the 800 at 2:29.06.
Colby's distance medley relay team of Brit Biddle, Berube, Mahal Alvarez-Backus, and Michaela Morris was ninth in 12:56.53. Meanwhile, Biddle, Alvarez-Backus, Morris, and Fanning combined to take 10th in the 3,200 relay (9:53.92).
Julia Rembetsy-Brown took 19th in the long jump (15-10.5) for the Mules.
The Mules finished in 13th place out of 29 scoring teams with 18 points.
