Women's track and field has nine on All-NESCAC Team

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's outdoor track and field team had nine athletes earn New England Small College Athletic Conference honors after the league championship meet Saturday at Trinity College.

Sophie Stokes Cerkvenik earned All-NESCAC honors in three events, while Julia Rembetsy-Brown and Sara Friedland were both all-conference in two events. Isa Berzansky (pictured), Taylor DePalo, Brit Biddle, Helen Chavey, Margaret Giles, and Hannah Springhorn were honored one time.
 
The top three in each event at the league meet earned All-NESCAC honors.
 
The success of the All-NESCAC athletes helped Colby finish a strong fourth at the conference meet with 74 points. The Mules were first among the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) schools.
 
Stokes Cerkvenik finished second in both the 200 dash (24.89) and the 100 hurdles (14.37), but set school records in each event. Stokes Cerkvenik also was part of the championship 400 relay team of Rembetsy-Brown, DePalo, and Friedland in a season-best 47.83.
 
Rembetsy-Brown and Friedland both placed second to earn individual All-NESCAC honors. Rembetsy-Brown had a leap of 36-2.25 in the triple jump, while Friedland ran 12.24 in the 100 dash.
 
Berzansky had the other individual honor by placing third in the high jump (5-4.5).
 
Colby's Biddle, Chavey, Giles, and Springhorn easily broke the school record in winning the 3,200 relay with a time of 9:14.34.
