BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Colby College's Sharde Johnson had a leap of 5-feet, 4.25 inches to take second place in the high jump in her first New England Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship meet Saturday.
Johnson is having a fine first track season for the Mules. She won a Maine State title in the high jump and also placed fifth against Division I athletes at a meet at Boston University.
Jayla Moss, another first-year, took fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 36-8.25. Kaylie Vallee was 12th for the Mules with a 35-0.25 and Christie Woodside placed 17th in 34-4.75.
Helen Chavey clocked a 5:03.39 in taking seventh place in the mile for the Mules. Emma O'Hara was 11th in the pentathlon (2,840 points), while Christina Speliakos had the same finish in the 60 hurdles (9.56). Laura Polley was 12th in the 60 hurdles in 9.60 and Woodside took 13th at 9.62.
Kaitlyn Deming, Elizabeth Marsh, Mae Sefransky, and Brit Biddle combined to take 15th in the 3,200 relay (10:03.34). Margaret Bannon, Jocelyn Meyer, Kristen Mahoney, and Annah Rossvall were 17th in the 800 relay (1:51.25).
Rossvall was 15th in the 400 meters (1:00.78), Sonia Tremblay took 21st in ithe 5,000 meters (18:46.98), and Alexa Scher had a 10-2.5 in the pole vault for 22nd place.
The Mules, with some top performers not competing, placed 16th overall with 13 points.
