Stokes Cerkvenik makes final of 60 hurdles at NCAA meet

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophie Stokes Cerkvenik, Colby College's national champion and All-American in the outdoor 100-meter hurdles, made the championship final of the 60 hurdles at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday.

Stokes Cerkvenik ran the race in 8.84 seconds. She ran in the first heat and finished eighth overall. Stokes Cerkvenik, who will earn another All-American honor for finishing in the top eight, will race in Saturday's 1:45 p.m. final. 
 
Colby's Helen Chavey placed 13th out of 20 runners in the mile with a 5:05.64 clocking, while teammate Rachel Leonard (pictured) had a 58.84 to take 19th place in the 400 dash.
 
Stokes Cerkvenik also competed in the 200 dash and placed 17th with a 25.52.
